Sizing & Fit

How do I know which size to order?

Use the size chart on each product page — our charts are based on actual garment measurements, not standard S/M/L which varies widely across brands. Measure your bust, waist, and hip and match to the chart. When you are between sizes, size up for a comfortable fit. Still unsure? Chat with us before ordering.

Are Bimba Studio kurtis true to size?

Our kurtis are based on garment measurements, not standard Indian sizing. We recommend measuring yourself and comparing to the size chart on each product page rather than ordering your usual S/M/L. This gives you a much more accurate fit.

How accurate are Bimba Studio size charts?

Very accurate — our size charts are product-specific and based on actual garment measurements taken flat. Every product page has its own size chart image. Please refer to that rather than relying on your standard size.

What if the kurti size does not fit me?

You can request an exchange as per our return and exchange policy, provided the product is unused, unwashed, and in original condition with tags intact. Reach us via the Contact Us page to initiate.

Does Bimba Studio offer plus size kurtis?

Select styles are available in extended sizes up to XL. Size availability is mentioned clearly on each product page — check the size selector before adding to cart. If a size is unavailable, click "Notify me when available" to be alerted when it restocks.

Fabric & Care

What fabric are Bimba Studio kurtis made from?

Most of our kurtis are made from 100% breathable cotton — lightweight, soft, and ideal for Indian weather. The Lime Green Highneck Top is a premium rayon-cotton blend, and the Chiguru uses Khata cotton — a handwoven textured fabric that holds its shape beautifully. Fabric details are mentioned on every product page.

What is Khata cotton?

Khata is a handwoven, slightly textured cotton — more structured than regular cotton, holds its shape through the day, and gets softer with every wash. It is exceptionally breathable and ideal for all-day wear. Our Chiguru Classic Green Kurti is made in Khata cotton.

Are Bimba Studio kurtis good for Indian summers?

Yes — our kurtis are made from breathable cotton and cotton-blend fabrics designed specifically for Indian summers. The loose silhouettes, natural fibres, and lightweight construction keep you cool even in warm weather.

Do Bimba Studio kurtis shrink after wash?

Minor shrinkage can occur with pure cotton fabrics after the first wash. We recommend washing in cold water and air drying in shade to maintain the original fit. Avoid tumble drying.

How do I wash and care for a cotton kurti?

Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild detergent. Do not soak, bleach, or scrub aggressively. Dry in shade — avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading. For block-printed kurtis like our Ira and Sindhoor, wash separately for the first 1–2 washes as minor colour bleeding from natural dyes is normal. Iron on low heat inside-out.

Will the product colour match the images shown online?

We photograph our products in natural daylight to show accurate colours. Slight variations may occur due to your screen settings or lighting conditions. For block-printed and hand-dyed fabrics, minor colour variations between pieces are a natural characteristic of handcraft — not a defect.

Our Craft

What is Bagru block printing?

Bagru block printing is a centuries-old craft from Bagru village near Jaipur, Rajasthan. Artisans hand-carve intricate wooden blocks and press them into natural dyes to create patterns — one stamp at a time, by hand. Each piece carries slight variations that are a mark of authentic handcraft, not a manufacturing flaw. Our Ira, Sindhoor, and Chitrakari kurtis feature Bagru-inspired prints.

What is Dabu printing?

Dabu is a traditional Rajasthani mud-resist printing technique. Artisans apply natural mud paste to the fabric before dyeing — wherever the mud sits, the dye cannot penetrate, creating the characteristic resist pattern. It is one of India's oldest craft traditions. Our Indigo Hand Block Kurti uses authentic Dabu printing. Minor colour variations between pieces are natural and expected.

Are Bimba Studio products handmade?

Several of our products feature genuine hand block printing using traditional techniques — Bagru printing (Ira, Sindhoor, Chitrakari) and Dabu resist printing (Indigo Kurti). Other styles use high-quality machine printing on cotton. The craft technique used is mentioned on each product page. All products are designed in-house in Bengaluru.

What makes Bimba Studio different from other kurti brands?

Bimba Studio is a small independent brand from Bengaluru rooted in Indian craft traditions. Our kurtis use Bagru block prints, Dabu resist printing, and Khata weaves — sourced from artisan communities in Rajasthan. Every product name carries a story from Indian languages: Chiguru (Kannada: new leaf), Neeli (blue), Sindhoor (the red vermillion), Gulmohar (the South Indian summer tree). We prioritise quality, craft, and everyday wearability over volume.

How can I contact Bimba Studio customer support?

Reach us via the Contact Us page. Our team responds within 24 working hours. For quick questions, Instagram DM (@bimbastudio.in) often gets a faster response.
